A couple of weeks ago, a new pair of Air Jordans dropped—the Space Jams 9s.
I got ’em!
I had been waiting all year for those shoes. This desire goes back to childhood.
When I was a kid, my dad took me to Footlocker to get a pair.
At the time, I wore an 11.
But on that day, the only pair they had was a 13.
Michael Jordan wears a 13, by the way.
So what did I do?
Since I, like so many youngsters back then, wanted to be like Mike, I convinced my dad to get the 13.
So when I got the shoes, I was walking around looking like Bozo the clown.
I looked like I had on skis.
I had to learn how to walk again.
To make myself feel better—with shoes that were disproportionate to my body—I told myself, “At least there’s room to grow.”
I’m being playful right now. But I’m also serious.
If you’re still here, there’s still room for you to grow.
