I like Air Jordan sneakers. When certain Jordans are released, I try to purchase them on the SNKRS app.
(This year, I’m eying the release of the Jordan 9 “Space Jams” and the Jordan 4 “Breds”.)
Here’s the process.
Jordans are typically released on Saturday mornings at 10:00. At 10:00, when Nike opens a draw for the shoes, you click the “Purchase” button on your phone. After you click the button, you wait in line to see if you made the cut. If you make the cut, you receive a notification that says, “Got ’Em.”
When I receive that notification, I typically say, “Yes!” I don’t wait until I receive the shoes in the mail before I rejoice. I rejoice in that moment on Saturday.
I rejoice in the present about what’s going to happen in the future.
In the same way, you don’t have to wait until the future before you get excited about what God is going to do in the future. In 2 Chronicles 20:21–22, before Israel ever stepped onto the battlefield, King Jehoshaphat appointed singers to praise God for the victory before the victory. You don’t have to wait until you receive the blessing from God before you celebrate the faithfulness of God.
