A few weeks ago, as I sat in the breakfast nook reflecting on God’s power, I was reminded of a job I had as a youth counselor in my twenties.
When I was hired, I received CPR training. In the training, we were taught how to use an AED, an automated external defibrillator.
When someone has undergone cardiac arrest, an AED is sometimes used to apply an electric charge to the heart to restore a normal heartbeat.
Once you apply the pads and set up the AED, in a loud, commanding voice, you exclaim, “Clear,” and then press the button to deliver a shock.
Just as the AED applies a charge to the heart, so also God applies a charge to your life. If you’re down, or broken, or weak, God exclaims, “Clear,” and then restores you. God has the power to revive you.
God is your AED.
