Following the GPS

When you drive or ride to an unfamiliar location, perhaps you, like me, use the GPS on your phone for step-by-step directions.

But for me, it’s not enough to know just the next step. It’s not enough for me to know that I need to make a left turn one mile ahead. I want to know what I need to do twenty miles ahead.

Before I begin the trip, I scroll ahead on the map so I can see all the steps ahead of time. In this life, however, we may not be able to see all the steps to our destination ahead of time.

But even though we may not see all the steps, God does. God knows what’s coming next, and God knows what’s coming after what’s coming next.

And since God knows all the steps, the wise thing to do is consult with the One who knows.
