In the mornings, when I study my Bible at my desk, I light a Bath and Body Works candle. One morning, after studying a couple hours, just before I rise from my desk, I place the lid on the candle.
As you probably know, when you place the lid on the jar, you extinguish the fire. You stop the fire. After I place the lid on the jar, just before I walk out my office, I look back at the candle and say, “Hmph.”
In that moment, as I watch the fire fade, I realize a major difference between my candle and my God.
The lid was able to stop what the candle was doing. But no lid can stop what God wants to do.
